About

Governments and the private sector need robust and reliable data on the benefits and outcomes of their ecosystem restoration projects on a regional and national scale.

The Restoration Barometer is the only tool available that tracks the implementation of restoration commitments across all terrestrial ecosystem types, from forests to farmlands and from waterways to coasts.

The Barometer provides evidence of the clear contributions of restoration to biodiversity conservation, climate mitigation and economic growth.

It allows users to track their progress towards commitments, for example, under the Bonn Challenge, 1t.org, the Post-2020 Biodiversity Targets, the Paris Agreement, Land Degradation Neutrality goal, the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Built by IUCN and endorsed by more than 40 countries, the Barometer provides an easy-to-use framework for users to report their restoration progress. It generates reports highlighting the qualitative and quantitative measures of success, thus reducing the burden of reporting against multiple commitments.
